Strange Eyes

“Quiet minds cannot be perplexed or frightened but go on in fortune or misfortune at their own private pace, like a clock during a thunderstorm.”

― Robert Louis Stevenson, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Jamie is always thinking about something. His mind has never been “quiet” for as long as he can remember. He thinks so much he often gets in trouble at work for spacing out, people are always asking if he’s okay, to witch replies, of course! One day when he was walking around the mall to pick up a few things, he was so distracted by his thoughts that he accidentally bumped into a stranger who dropped her bags. Jamie stopped to apologize and help her with her things when he noticed her strange eyes. They were a dark reddish color, mauve maybe. He had never seen eyes like hers, she was even wearing sunglasses as if to hide them, but they slipped down when she stooped to grab her things. She slid them back up and thanked him only to run off. Jamie couldn’t stop thinking about her eyes and everyday that week went back to the mall to try and see her again. About a month later when he has almost forgot about them, he saw her again….
