The Uncaring God

“More bloodshed followed, as brother fought brother and religion battled religion in the age-old nonsense of settling whose method of worship was the holiest to our Creator, who, for all our murderous efforts, most likely despises the lot of us.”

― Steve Alten, The Loch

A man begins a religion as a joke. Bored with his life, his 9 to 5 job, his boring routine, he decided to do something out of the ordinary. His God? An uncaring one. One that made Earth and it’s humans for fun and then moved on. A God that has forgotten us at best, and loathes us at worst. The only problem was he accidentally created religious zealots who quickly took over his stupid idea. What started as his little weekend project, quickly got out of hand as his worshippers revolt and take over the city, spreading nihilist propaganda. The way he sees it, he can only do one of two things: leave the city, or take responsibility for his creation. In a way, he felt like he had become that same uncaring god he had made up, will he turn his back on his creation?
