Looking for Dreams

“The sound that came from above May was the exact same as a stopper being pulled from a bathtub. May would have flinched, had she not been made of stone. As it was, she could move only her eyeballs. But that didn’t help much, because whatever it was, was directly above her head.”

–Jodi Lynn Anderson, May Bird Among the Stars, pg. 112

Write about someone who has lucid dreams. Their friend decides to do an experiment. When the dreamer is asleep, the friend will make soft noises from anything they can find. The dreamer, when they hear a different sound, will have a new dream. They don’t know what the sounds are or where they are coming from, but it sends them to new worlds, sometimes even other people’s dreams, until they come to one they can’t escape no matter what sounds they hear. They wake up in a panic, but when they remember the dream-scape, they realize they have to go back. Why?
