“I thought once that gods are the opposite of death, but I see now they are more dead than anything, for they are unchanging, and can hold nothing in their hands.”
― Madeline Miller, Circe
Writing Prompt:
He was born a god, but after centuries of parties, of changing the fate of humanity, and of never aging or growing or changing, he had had enough. He saw the humans falling love, falling into despair, and dying, and that appealed to him more than his glorious life in the heavens. The only problem now was convincing someone to allow him to become human. The other gods vehemently denied allowing such blasphemy. It had happened once, and it would never happen again. There was one other god in history who had managed to transform himself, but he had long since died, and his soul was in the underworld. The god would have to travel into the underworld without being detected, and find the lost soul of the human-god in order to learn his secret.
Writer’s Tip:
If the right word isn’t coming to you, don’t be ashamed of using a dictionary or thesaurus. Language is vast! You can’t possibly remember every word you’ve ever learned. Besides, it’s always a good idea to learn a new word. When choosing the right word, remember to research it’s connotation as well as it’s denotation. The denotation of a word is its direct meaning. Its connotation, however, is the context or tone the word is most often related with. Words can have a neutral, positive, or negative connotation.

As I maneuver through self-recovery and the stress of daily life, I will try to start posting every day again, but take this as your reminder to take care of yourself. Writing daily is a great way to practice your craft, but without taking breaks or self-care, you can quickly become burnt out. This weekend, while you’re celebrating (a late) Ostara, Easter, or just enjoying the spring weather, make sure to do something for you. Watch a movie, listen to music, cook your favorite meal.
