Stranded

“We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.”

–H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu

H.P. Lovecraft may have meant this metaphorically, but let’s take it literally. Write about a group of people shipwrecked and stranded on a strange island. The seas around them are black with the night and fog surrounds them. They hear noises, but never see any animals. The only thing to eat are mysterious berries and fruits. At first they don’t dare. A few alphas emerge and build a fire to flag down near by ships and planes. After two days, they must eat.
